Resourcing for Others:

August Bucket Mission Collection will take place at St Stephen’s this morning.  The Recipient is:-  Christian World Service’s ‘ Urgent Venezuela Earthquake Appeal.’  We will be raiding the congregation of their coins/notes during the service.  Join in the bucket of fun.

Something New! – We have balls of knitting cotton available for those people willing to knit dish cloths.  These cloths will go to Family Works Refugee Programme along with the New World “Smeg Knives”. See the knitting table for instructions.  Hope you can help!

Wayfinder Commissioning Service: 30 August 2:30pm, Enliven Centre, Botanic Gardens.  A special combined service to commission Steve McCoy into this new and exciting role.   Please bring a plate of food for afternoon tea.

Plant & Baking Sale Sat 19 Sept at St Stephens:  Take home a bag of compost & topsoil, to plant a plant in it and bring back for the Plant Sale or take home some pots from the Foyer at St Stephens, and return with plants in them for the sale.

Quote for this week:  ‘Someone’s sitting in the shade today because someone planted a tree a long time ago’.

Alongside our Annual Plant sale, we also have an amazing Baking/preserves table supplied with delicious goodies provided by you talented cooks.  Just an encouraging word to again start looking through your recipe books for your favourite treat to tempt us all.  We are also accepting of donations towards purchase of ingredients, or supplying of ingredients for cooks to use.  Feel free to leave ingredients in Church foyer or monies with Rose in Church office, or chat directly to myself if you have any questions.  Looking forward to your support.  Your contributions are always well received by our shopping patrons.  Thank you, Sandra ph:  027 688 3619

New World’s latest promtion has started :– kitchen knives this time.  Family Works tell me they will be very pleased to receive any of these for their clients.  So please leave any unwanted stickers in the box in the Foyer.

Timaru Presbyterian Ladies Lunch Group:  Meet at the Wai-iti Rd Worship Centre on Wed 19 August at 12.30pm.  Shared lunch.  Sales Table.  Please support this Table as it enables our Group to help others in the community.  Guest Speaker:  Alli Hitchcock of PSSC speaking on the newly introduced ‘At Home’ Service which will cater for all ages for covering housekeeping, shopping, exercise, companionship or just a social visit.  A flexible supportive initiative – User pays.

Family Works Food Bank:  The Food bank gratefully receives all general sorts of items and can include the following:

  • Shampoo, conditioner & Deodorants, for both men and women.
  • Hand cream and soap.
  • Items for children’s lunches may include: budget biscuits, muesli bars and small packets of potato chips that come in a large bag that include several flavours.
  • Spreads
  • 750g or less blocks of cheese.
